Flynn Broady on the Environment
A clean environment is essential for healthy living. The change in greenhouse gas concentrations causes global warming and affects the climate change. Climate change may affect human health, agriculture, water resources, forests, wildlife, and coastal areas.
For our children, for our future, we must take climate change seriously and combat it through our environmental policies. As proof that climate change and global warming is real, all we have to do is look at the past 15 years. The fact is, the twelve hottest years on record have all come in the last fifteen.
Heat waves, droughts, wildfires, hurricanes, and floods—all are now more frequent and of greater intensity. Future generations are very much in danger due to problems caused by our lack of environmental stewardship. It is our duty to make sacrifices and do something to prevent it from happening.
This quote sums it up:
“But there must be the look ahead, there must be a realization of the fact that to waste, to destroy, our natural resources, to skin and exhaust the land instead of using it so as to increase its usefulness, will result in undermining, in the days of our children, the very prosperity which we ought by right to hand down to them amplified and developed.” – President Theodore Roosevelt (26th U.S. President)
We have the technology and knowledge to develop and place into practice renewable energy sources, reduce carbon emissions, and move our energy needs away from carbon fuels. We owe it to the world to participate in the Paris Agreement and the Kyoto Protocol. As the leading industrial nation we must lead the effort.
